What are affirmations? How do we write them?

Affirmations are positive statements that are used to challenge and overcome negative or self-

sabotaging thoughts. They are designed to help shift your mindset, promote self-belief, and

reinforce positive thinking patterns. By repeating affirmations regularly, you can reprogram your

subconscious mind and create a more positive and empowering outlook on life.

To write effective affirmations, follow these guidelines:

Start with "I" or "My": Begin your affirmations with "I" or "My" to make them personal and

reflective of yourself.

Use the present tense: Phrase your affirmations in the present tense as if the desired outcome

is already happening. This helps align your mind with the belief that what you desire is already

true.

Be positive and specific: State your affirmations in a positive and empowering manner. Focus

on what you want to achieve or experience, rather than what you want to avoid. Be specific

about your intentions and desires.

Use strong and emotional language: Choose words that evoke strong emotions and resonate

with you. The more connected you feel to the words, the more effective the affirmation will be.

Keep them concise: Keep your affirmations concise and to the point. Shorter statements are

easier to remember and repeat regularly.

Make them realistic and believable: While affirmations can be aspirational, it's important to make

them believable. If your mind finds it hard to accept the affirmation, it may not be as effective.

Gradually stretch your comfort zone, but stay within the realm of possibility.

Examples of affirmations:

“I am worthy of love and respect.”
